 ABOUT US

Links to Work, is a work preparation and supported employment service which was established as a direct response by Walsall Council's Learning Disability Service to fulfil the requirements of the Governments white paper 'Valuing people' (2001) Learning Disabilities for the 21st Century.

The Government objective what we match "To enable people with a learning disability to participate in all form of employment, wherever possible in paid work and to make a valid contribution to the world of work."

Links to Work over arching philosophy and values based in the inclusion of people with a learning disability in society, which is underpinned by the key principles of 'Valuing People'

  •    civil rights
  •    choice - unbiased and empowered
  •    independence
  •    inclusion

Over the last eight years 'Links to Work' have developed into an organisation that has the potential to provide real opportunities in the labour market for those individuals or groups of individuals that have developed the skills to access the open labour market.

They operate a well-established programme of work preparation, work experience and employment support services and have developed a progression route which offers participant's opportunities to reach their full potential and provides a route which they can move into paid work within the company and/or access open employment opportunities.

Links to Work has developed a national reputation as an excellent example of best practice for developing work-based opportunities for people with disabilities.
